More Pet Portraits From Photographs in Photoshop…

Another project for a client. Just wanted to post cuz I have been blog neglectful. I have a good reason. New CRICUT machine. It owns me right now. I am making all kinds of stuff. A plethora of God Boxes, book marks, cards for a convention in March. Pics and tutorials to come…

DIY God Box For a Restful Soul

GodBox3ALL

Letting go and letting God. His faithfulness abounds, yet I am capable of grabbing ahold of worry as though I am in this thing alone.
When I get consumed in the waves of my brain, forgetting I am not – and was never – in control, taking what action I can usually provides relief. Often I am powerless to change the circumstances over which I fret, since I cannot control people, places or things. That is when complete reliance on the God of my understanding is indispensable. But what does that really mean? I have come to understand “letting go” as releasing worry. Meaning I no longer churn the issue about in my mind. If concern sneaks in there and reveals itself to my conscious, I pray that I am given guidance. If I can’t change the situation, I pray my heart be changed to a state of acceptance. Sometimes, though, prayer answered in His time seems slow coming and my mind continues to spin. That is when taking a physical action, in the realm of my human senses, brings the instant gratification/relief I seek…
Hence, my inspiration to create a God box. I can physically write my concern on paper and place it in the box, thereby symbolically giving it to my Counselor and Friend. Respite from my mental battles comes, and that compulsion to react emotionally to challenges lessens, even vanishes altogether.
Remembering He is with me in the storms of this world and relying fully on Him is always the solution.
“My soul finds rest in God alone.” – Psalm 62

DIY Wall Plaque Using Stamps, Wood, Embossing Powder…

HappyJoyFree

This was my first date with embossing powder, stamps and wood. It was fun, easy, and I love it. SOOO easy. I picked up some Martha Steward embossing powder, a heating tool, a $1.99 piece of unfinished wood. Drilled holes in the wood for the wire hanger. Spray painted the wood with Rustoleum Satin heirloom white on top of Robin Egg Blue. Then came the fun. I used an embossing stamp pad, stamped the words on the dry painted wood, sprinkled the black embossing powder on, shook off the excess and set it with my handy heating tool. For the hearts, I use rubber stamps and a jet black pigment ink pad. Threw some beads on the wire and there you have it…

I am so excited. I have 10 million other ideas for this whole embossing, stamps, words on wood with bead hangy things!

Bible in 90 Days

45 days behind me in the Bible in 90 Days Challenge! I am now in Proverbs. This has been amazing. I have never felt so close to God. I think about him constantly throughout the day, and feel his presence and provision in my life.
I became a follower Christ in September of 2009, and was introduced to the beautiful world of Christian rock music. It is all I listen to now, and though it has only been a few months, I don’t know how I ever got along without it.
I am an avid runner/marathoner. I never venture out to hit the pavement without my ipod stocked full of praise music to fuel me. My very first run after being saved, I got caught in a thunderstorm 3 miles from my house. I started to get negative and throw myself a big pity party. All of a sudden, through my headphones came the following words
I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down and wiped our tears away, stepped in and saved the day.

But once again, I say amen and it’s still raining as the thunder rolls I barely hear You whisper through the rain, “I’m with you”and as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives and takes away.

That was the first of many experiences where I felt a direct answer from God. I got home and immediately looked up the song – Casting Crowns “Praise You in the Storm”.
Today, this song was brought to mind again as I was reading through Psalms. I got to 121:1 and immediately knew I had heard it in the same song.
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
What beautiful words, reminding me to keep my eyes on Him, and do His work.

Create Signature in Photoshop, Then Add it to the End of Your Blogger Posts…

See mine? It follows every post – not just the ones published subsequent to the addition of the code.

Ok, first make your signature. I did mine in photoshop. Here is how…

1. Open a new file. I made mine 220px by 96px (trial and error – it fits best after my posts). Make sure you choose “transparent” in the background contents tab as below.
2. Choose the Text tool (keyboard short cut T) and pick your favorite font. I used “Hannah’s Messy Handwriting”, which I downloaded here at dafont.com. Pick your font color and size, and type your name…
3. I added a heart using a heart brush that I made (that is for a later tutorial)…
Choose the brush tool (keyboard shortcut ‘b’), pick a foreground color and brush that you like and paint design of your choice…
4. Save file and upload to image hosting website (I use Photobucket)…
Save File as .png, so that transparency will be maintained and the signature file will not come with a background that may vary from your post background color.
Now put code for your image into your Blogger HTML template…
Go to your blogger dashboard and click ‘layout’, then ‘edit HTML’, then
check the expand widget box as follows…
