Easy DIY Copper Tube Rope Necklace

Copper Tube Necklace DIY

If you are looking for a beginner level, inexpensive, modern and versatile necklace to make, this copper tube necklace tutorial is just the project for you.  With just a few supplies from the hardware store, you will have a trendy piece of jewelry that can be dressy or casual.

The inspiration for this project came from this awesome DIY project book:

I Spy DIY by Jenni Radosevich

Copper Tube Necklace DIY

My copper tube necklace varies from the tutorial in this book, but the outcome is similar.  I love Krylon Dual for painting on, well anything, but especially metal.  The coverage is great, and no primer is needed since it is built into the paint.  Even with Krylon Flourescent, I didn’t use primer.  The paint dries fast, so turning the tube over to paint the other side can be done in 15 minutes.

Lets get started!

I love these end connectors for round braided cord like in this project.  I picked mine up at Joann’s, and they are linked above in the supply list.

This necklace can be worn single, double or triple!  Just make sure to vary the length of the rope if you are wearing more than one at a time.

Disclaimer:  I received Krylon Dual Spray paint to try for this project.  If I hadn’t, I would have bought some and done the project, sharing exactly what I shared because I already love this paint.  All opinions are honest and mine!

Painted Glass Vase Tutorial

Distressed Painted Glass Vase at savedbylovecreations.com by Fox Hollow Cottage

Give a warm welcome to today’s guest poster, Shannon!  Thanks for being here today to share this great, quick fall decor painted vase project.

Hi there SBLC readers!

My name is
and I blog at

Today I’m going to share a super…
(and I mean super)
simple craft that will result in a pretty decor accent, perfect for anytime of year!

-Make a Painted, Distressed Vase-

Grab yourself a vase.
You might have a few on hand already.
The more cut work, (nooks&crannies) the better!
I got mine at Goodwill for 99 cents.

Make sure it’s clean & dry.

Next, you’ll want to use a paint that is suitable for glass surfaces.
I used a (new to the USA) paint called
La Craie.
It’s a chalk based paint and it worked beautifully on the glass.
I decided on Cobblestone.
It’s a perfect neutral and I thought I could get lots of use out of my vase in this shade.

I like to move stuff around. A lot!

After my paint was dry. I grabbed  a sanding sponge and just knocked-off the paint until I liked the look!

Done
Decorate

Enjoy
This idea can be utilized to make centerpieces for parties, showers or casual weddings too. Any paint color can be used and embellishments can be added to make them really personal too!

For Fall… I liked the simple, unadorned vase dressed in paint only. I can really enjoy the texture and cuts in the vase and I liked it paired with the branches, leaves and the natural elements of the wood and jute twine.
If you would like to view some more ideas for dressing up simple items… I have a some fun,
tin-can crafts you might want to peek at.

Thanks so much for having me today!!
It was a real pleasure 🙂

Ombre Frosted Wine Bottle Tutorial

Frosted glass paint ombre wine bottle DIY at savedbylovecreations.com #decoartglass

The fun with Deco Art glass paint is nowhere near finished.  Check out how you can create this ombre frosted glass look on an empty wine bottle.  The frost paint is super fun to work with, and I am loving the look.

Supplies:

Empty wine bottle

Rubbing alcohol

Lint free cloth

Frosted glass paint in Turquoise and white

Cosmetic sponge

Tutorial:

Start at the bottom of the glass with turquoise and apply lightly with cosmetic sponge.  At the point you want to shift to a lighter shade of turquoise, mix white frost with turquoise and continue up the glass.  Use white on the top segment.  Let that dry for 30 minutes or more.

Go over entire bottle with light layer of white frost.  This ties the layers in together better, making for a more subtle gradient effect.

Old Window Turned Organizer

Old window organizer DIY by Ashlee from My So Called Life, featured at https://savedbylovecreations.com #upcycle #crafts #DIY

Have you guys met Ashlee from My So Called Crafty Life?  I recently came across her blog, and I am totally crushing on her projects.  She is inspired by vintage style, which she brings to her jewelry and crafting in a way that just works for me.   While creating delicate and lovely pieces, Ashlee is not afraid to bust out the power tools and educate her readers with her fabulous DIY tutorials.  You will be seeing her do just that here on SBLC in September.

When I saw this old window turned organizer, I just couldn’t wait til then to mention my My So Called Crafty Life.  Old window projects have always drawn me in, and this one is just adorable.  Use cork board, chalkboard paint, & chicken wire for this transformation with the detailed photo tutorial.  I recommend you get comfy with a cup of coffee, browse and be inspired.

Video Tutorial: Button Bracelet

Make an #upcycle button bracelet with @savedbyloves #jewelryI was looking at my piles and piles of buttons, when it hit me that I have a serious problem.  I don’t want to end up on an episode of Hoarders.  Not a goal of mine.  That is when I decided to use some of them up by creating this easy, 5  minute bracelet.  I even shot a little video.  All you will need for this project is some buttons, a bracelet blank (I got mine at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $1.47) and some E6000 or other strong glue.

Clay Rose Bib Necklace

Neon Clay Rose Bib Necklace

Imagine my delight when I discovered a sweet little handmade boutique in my small southern Indiana hometown.  The name, Rust and Roses, the style, fantastic!  I quickly tracked down the owner, Mandy, who was busy painting away on another upcycled home decor accessory to add to her charming, modern/vintage inventory. From gorgeous paper crafts to found objects jewelry to chalk paint coffee tables, Mandy has a passion for handmade that combines with an vintage ephemeral taste to create a store I can get behind 100%.

We chatted the afternoon away, and I bought these fun air dry clay roses.  I ended up painting the 2 white ones gray to fit into this neon clay rose bib necklace.

Clay flower necklace

To create the necklace, I glued each rose onto a washer and strung wire and cord through the washers to get the shape.  Then I attached silver chain to the wire on both sides.  Super easy.

You will be hearing more about this little treasure of a shop.  Join me in liking the Rust and Roses FB page and let’s encourage this wonderful handmade (way under-priced in my opinion) boutique.  When Mandy gets her website going, I will be all over it, and passing the love on to my dear readers.

Turn That Suitcase Into a Table

Repurposed suitcase table

I have recently come into an abundance of old suitcases.  There are three of them I have picked up during the summer’s junkin’ adventures.  I was thinking I would decoupage them, but then I spied this repurposed suitcase table at Stars for Streetlights.  What a great way to create unique storage that is functional and looks super cool.  Maybe I will decoupage and make a table…

Do you have any suitcase upcycle ideas?
