100+ Ways to Decorate Your Place for Cheap

100+ Ways to decorate dorm rooms, or any room, creatively on a budget from savedbylovecreations.com #crafts #decorating #DIYAs a college student, I was always decorating my place with nice art and accessories that I could have made for way less than the purchase price. That was back when I thought only science mattered, and creativity was for those who didn’t know that. Can you imagine? Ask me how many of those expensive pieces I still have? Don’t let it happen to you. Why spend your precious resources on items you will move from place to place, lose or damage?  There are tons of ways to create amazing room designs with handmade, budget friendly home decor projects. Many of them use materials you will see in recycle bins everywhere. Go to your local recycling center and ask if you can raid their goods.  They may look at you funny, but probably won’t object.

Old Window Turned Organizer

Old window organizer DIY by Ashlee from My So Called Life, featured at https://savedbylovecreations.com #upcycle #crafts #DIY

Have you guys met Ashlee from My So Called Crafty Life?  I recently came across her blog, and I am totally crushing on her projects.  She is inspired by vintage style, which she brings to her jewelry and crafting in a way that just works for me.   While creating delicate and lovely pieces, Ashlee is not afraid to bust out the power tools and educate her readers with her fabulous DIY tutorials.  You will be seeing her do just that here on SBLC in September.

When I saw this old window turned organizer, I just couldn’t wait til then to mention my My So Called Crafty Life.  Old window projects have always drawn me in, and this one is just adorable.  Use cork board, chalkboard paint, & chicken wire for this transformation with the detailed photo tutorial.  I recommend you get comfy with a cup of coffee, browse and be inspired.

Video Tutorial: Make Cut Wine Bottle Vases

Cut wine bottles and make adorable Vases/jars/candle holders. Video DIY at savedbylovereations.com

Need a beautiful, quick gift that is free to make?  This recycled wine bottle craft is just the thing.  It is super fun, you will see in the video.  It only takes a few supplies and a minute to make.  Stick a paper rose in there (see this paper rose tutorial) and you have a lovely centerpiece or house warming gift.  I was completely intimidated by this project.  I can’t believe how easy it is.  Gather up some empty wine bottles and lets go!

PLEASE be careful and wear goggles and gloves.  This project is very easy, but involves fire and glass.  The edges after cutting were dull enough that my fingers were fine after running them along the rim, but I did decide to sand with 120 grit sand paper before giving as gifts.

Video Tutorial: Button Bracelet

Make an #upcycle button bracelet with @savedbyloves #jewelryI was looking at my piles and piles of buttons, when it hit me that I have a serious problem.  I don’t want to end up on an episode of Hoarders.  Not a goal of mine.  That is when I decided to use some of them up by creating this easy, 5  minute bracelet.  I even shot a little video.  All you will need for this project is some buttons, a bracelet blank (I got mine at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $1.47) and some E6000 or other strong glue.

Aluminum Can Rose Pendant Sizzix Video Tutorial

AluminumCanRosePendantThis video tutorial walks you through the process of using a Sizzix machine to cut an aluminum can that you will use to create the 3D rose pendant.  This is super easy, and you know I love it because it is an upcycle!  Not to mention how pretty the rose is.  You can use it for a charm, card embellishment, rings and all kinds of jewelry and crafts.  I opted for the inside of the can so my rose would be aluminum, but you can grab a can in any color you could need for your project.

Neon Mason Line Bracelets

Neon Mason Line Bracelet Tutorial

Just when I thought I had made all of the bracelets I was going to make for awhile, I found this fabulous neon mason line knotted bracelet tutorial at A Few Good Things.  They used the macrame closure from Honestly WTF that I told you about in my macrame bracelet DIY post.  I can’t wait to try this project.  According to the tutorial, the mason line is available at hardware stores, near spools of chain.

I found some neon mason line on amazon in several colors; 5 spools for just $5.70!  These colors are just perfect for summer.
