Recycled Sweater CraftsI have been loving felt ever since putting together 60+ felt projects.  Here are a couple of coin purses made from old sweaters, with Sizzix cut wool shapes needle punched for embellishment.

These projects are super easy, and what better way to use old sweaters?  I have scoured tons of garage sales lately and found some great wool sweaters for next to nothing.  All I did was cut the shapes I wanted with sizzix and poke my needle felting tool over and over until the fibers mixed and the shapes were connect to the purse.  EASY.

Anthropologie Hairpin Knock-Off

I got the inspiration for these adorable hairpins from Anthropologie, here.  As soon as I saw them on the website, I knew I had found the perfect project for a pack of flower embellishments I picked up awhile back for $3.39 (18 flowers).  The Anthro version costs $28 for a set of 4.  You can make them for about $0.20 each using the Donna Downey flowers.    I also made a couple of hairpins from polymer clay flowers I created using a Makins mold for even less.  Grab some bobby pins and super glue and make your very own.

  • E6000 craft glue
  • Hairpin blanks

  • Yeah, so this one is pretty darn easy.  Just put a dab of glue on the back of your flower and adhere it to the bobbie pin.  Brilliant, I know!

Paper Mache Mary Jane Shoes Altered

I mentioned this project in this post, a what I am loving to read update.  I got the inspiration for these adorable shoes from Cloth Paper Scissors March/April 2011 issue that I picked up at my local Barnes and Noble.  There is a decent tutorial on creating these mary janes from paper and just a few other supplies.
This is my first ever paper mache project, and I think it is so cute I might freak.  I am not sure what I am going to do with them yet.  Shadow box maybe?  Or dangling from the wreath posted here?  They are about 4 inches long.  I thought they would be bigger, but I couldn’t care less.  Precious.  Any ideas for display?
I stamped a cross on one soul and on the other I collaged “Glory to God”.  Spring and Easter are a time when God’s Awesomeness screams even louder than normal.

The Return of Polymer Clay; "Hope" Dangly/Keychain

I haven’t busted out the pasta machine and clay since “100 Days of Polymer Clay”. Clay is so FUN. This is a gift I made for my stepson’s girlfriend. I stamped “HOPE” onto the faux stone clay, inked, baked…accessorized with steampunk findings, and there you go. A cute little keychain or backpack dangly. Easier than a paper airplane. I missed you clay.

Lime Green Ribbed Knit Wrist Warmers

Here is what I have been working on… I can’t stop knitting!This is the first time I have ever knitted two items at once on the same circular needle. I feel like a real knitter now. These are a simple k2 p2 ribbed pattern knit with peruvian wool and lightly machine felted. I will from this point on, work both pieces in paired knits simultaneously. It just works for me. I know they will be the same size, and I love that when I finish, both are done!!

Lightly Felted Men’s Fingerless Gloves With Pattern

It is crunch time folks, and I am knitting myself right into an arthritis diagnosis. I do this every Christmas. Handmade mania with an emphasis on wooly treasures to temper the winter freezes.My nephew wanted fingerless mitts and here is what I came up with (after making 3 oddly shaped gloves I would rather forget). I used Stitch Nation yarn by Debbie Stoller called “Full o’ Sheep”, 100% peruvian wool.


Here is the pattern I used, which I found at Piece By Piece. I used size 5 circular needles and the magic loop method. This pattern called for size 6 needles, but i knit BIG, so I dropped down a size. I also decided to machine wash felt the finished mitts for 10 minutes. It makes a fuzzier, tighter, neater knit, smaller mitt. Taylor will love. I am considering some button embellishments or maybe some embroidery. Off to knit more…

Handmade Marathon Key Chain From Sculpey…

My bubbly friend Megan will be venturing out on her first full Marathon this Saturday. What a huge endeavor and accomplishment. I was inspired to make her a gift, and out came this keychain and personalized tag combo. I used Sculpey, my cricut for the shapes, pearl FX for color. What a unique piece of marathon flare.
Falling more in love with clay daily. And making the tag was satisfyingly simple and quick. I used Ranger inks, acrylic stamps and embossing powder (for the text). The orange splatter is glimmer mist from Tattered Angels (tiger lilly).
