Mica shift rules. I don’t really understand it, but comprehension is not necessary for creation. I try to save brain space for things I need to know. Anyway… found this awesome video on youtube that inspired the above piece. The sound doesn’t go very high on this particular clip, and the artist’s voice is soft, so go somewhere quiet if you want to get this cool polymer clay effect. It is done with a rubber stamp, taking advantage of the mica properties in metallic clay. I used straight premo gold for the background, and sculpey III pearl blue with a pinch of premo gold mixed in. I sanded with 4oo then 800 wet to dry, buffed by hand on denim and finished with varathane, 3 coats. Go mica!
