I was asked to redo this jewelry box/ mirror combo and make it fabulous.
My favorite is the jewelry box. I love how the little windows turned out. I decorated and cut paper to fit, adhered with matte gel medium to the top of the glass, then filled in the panes with Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
For the sides of the jewelry box, I stamped some dressmaker pattern paper, wrinkled it up and adhered it with matte gel. After that was dry, I did an antique white wash over the sides. The painted parts are off antique white. I roughed up the edges of the wood to give a distressed look. The back, I painted with glimmery turquoise.
Same story for the mirror. The horizontal flat part above the drawers is covered with scrapbook paper, which I doodled and stamped upon, then dressmaker pattern paper again. I am currenlty obsessed with the stuff. You can find it super cheap at your local thrift stores, and it is so fun to collage with! Here is a cool collage technique video that inspired me during this project.
To finish up, I sealed the pieces with Polycrylic by Minwax
