Stumble Linky Week #2

The deal:

  • Stumble Upon has huge traffic power; for more SU info, there are resource links below
  • Follow your Saved By Love Creations via GFC
  • Add your blog post that you would like people to stumble to the linky below.
  • Please do not link to your main site, or to a time sensitive post such as a Giveaway or Blog Hop.
  • Stumble all the posts you would like to promote.  You can check to make sure that your stumble went through by clicking on the “Info” icon.  Leave a comment on their post so the blogger knows you have stumbled them.  Leaving a link to the post you want stumbled in the comment is also helpful.
  • If you are not going to stumble other posts, please do not enter a link to be stumbledIt is all about give and take, not just take.
  • Feel free to add multiple post links.
  • NOTE: You can install the SU toolbar right in your internet browser window.  Then just hit “I like it!” in your toolbar.  If it is the first time that page has been stumbled, you will have to fill in a few tidbits of info: you will need to enter a couple of broad category tags, and a short review.  This only takes a minute, and is a one shot deal, so please do this.  If the post has already been stumbled, you will not have to do this, just click thumbs up.
  • For more info on stumbling, check out these links:  Kelly’s Lucky You Tutorial, The Ultimate Stumble Upon Guide
  • Please spread the word by sharing the button on your site, tweeting and facebooking (but don’t stumble this actual linky, cause it’s a linky – see above)

Thrifty Thursday Week 27

Week 27 of Thrifty Thursday.  I missed having Thrifty Thursday last week.  It felt strange.  My blog was down while I was transferring to WordPress.  The whole experience gave me an opportunity to see just how addicted to this whole thing I actually am.  It was a bit of a hassle, but like anything I have ever attempted here, there is a ton of support in blogland.  I have yet to be left with an unsolved dilemma.  I can see already that WP is quite powerful.  I am going to wait a month or so to do a full review of the experience, until I can get some traffic numbers to compare.  I will say that I used Blogelina to do my transfer, and would recommend Tanya and her team to anyone considering the move.

Back to the hop.  Yippie!!!

Look around and join the fun.  The idea is to link to your frugal post, whether it be a DIY, recipe, tip, coupon… if you like it, link it.  If you don’t have a thrifty post to link to, feel welcome to join the hop anyway, and link to your main blog.

Other stuff:
* Please follow Saved By Love Creations, your host!
*Grab my “Thrifty Thursday” button above and throw it on your lovely site.  Let’s grow this!
*I will choose 2 participants to feature the following Thursday,  Please drop by and follow the features!  They are numbers 2 and 3 in the thumbnail list.  REMEMBER that to be chosen as a featured site, you must follow SBLC via GFC.
*Follow the blogs that are must reads, and please return the gesture by following those who follow you.  Leave a comment when you follow so that the blogger will know you are a new follower
*Leave me a comment and let me know you were here.  I love hearing from you.
*Scatter joy, and frugal tips.
*Have fun 🙂
*Stop by and say hello to Nikki and link up to Thrifty Thursdays…

SBLC Moving to WordPress

I almost feel I would rather move to a different home than move to WordPress.  I am a wee bit scared.  Mainly because I am not a fan of change, and… oh yeah, I have no idea what I am doing.  So, I have that going for me.  Yikes.

Why am I moving from Blogger to WordPress?  I am delighted that you asked.  The short answer is that a very successful blog mentor of mine told me to.  I have learned that if you want what someone else has, you have the best chance of getting it if you do what they did.  Brilliant, I know.  Considering her advice (after I got past the “No way, not ever” phase), I dug in and educated myself on the advantages of packing up and moving.  I have read several posts on this topic, and I attended a twitter chat last evening by Blogelina. While I have not experience with WP as of yet, here are the factors that convinced me:

He Made Me

I made her…she is different. She is unique.
With love I formed her in her mother’s womb.
I fashioned her with great joy.
I remember with great pleasure the day I created her.
I love her smile. I love her ways. I love to hear her laugh
And the silly things she says and does.
She brings me great pleasure. This is how I made her.
I made her pretty and not beautiful.
I wanted her to search out her heart and learn that
it would be ME in her that would make her beautiful…
And it would be Me that would draw others to her.
I made her in such a way that she would need me.
I made her a little more lonesome than she would like to be…
Only because I need for her to learn and depend on Me.
I know her heart. I know that if I had not made her like this,
She would go her own chosen way
And forget Me…her Creator.
Because I love her, I have seen her broken heart…
and the tears she cried alone.
I have cried with her and had a broken heart too.
Many times she has stumbled and fallen alone…
Only because she would not hold my hand.
So many lessons she’s learned the hard way
because she would not listen to My voice.
So many times I have sat back and sadly
watched her go her merry way alone…
Only to watch her return to my arms,
sad and broken.
And now she is Mine again.
I made her, and I bought her…
Because I love her.
I have to reshape and remold her
To renew her to what I planned for her to be.
It has not been easy for her or for Me.
I want her to be conformed to My image.
This high goal I have set for her…
Because I love her.

Garage Sale Score: Bread Machine Fun…

Thursday was an outstanding garage sale day.  Debbie and I were finding deals left and right.  So many that it became difficult to drive.  She just had to get the exercise ball.  (You better have a six pack next time I see you, lady)!

Amongst the numerous bargains of the day, I found me a $5 bread maker:

I had never used one of these beasts.   I brought it right home and got to business, to whip up yummy bread for our weekend camping trip.  I followed a recipe that came in the manual:

The first loaf I made was more cooked than I like, so I made another with the bake setting on “light” instead of “medium”.  I also added 2 packets of splenda to the recipe to sweeten it up a bit.  It came out perfect.  I read that you have to be careful and follow recipe amounts when it comes to sugar (or honey or molasses) because yeast thrive on sugar, and too much sugar can cause havoc.  I also read that artificial sweeteners cannot be used in lieu of sugar, as they do not react with yeast.  That is what made me think of adding splenda for a subtle sweet boost, and it worked.

So far, I have made for loaves of bread since Thursday.  I have absolutely gotten my $5 worth out of this machine!  Nothing is better than the smell of freshly baked bread filling the home.  This is just in time for us to boost our carbs for marathon training.  Lovely.  If you have any favorite bread machine recipes, send em’ on over!

Crochet Beaded Bracelet With Instructions

So, yesterday I posted three projects I wanted to tackle, and I finished one of the three!  I am ok with that.  It was harder than I thought to crochet this bracelet.  I kept having to start over because I just couldn’t keep track of the thread, or really see what was going on.  I finally switched from size 8 pearl cotton thread to size three cotton crochet thread.  MUCH easier to see what was going on from that point forward.  I used size 6/0  beads.

Instructions are here.  The bracelet is worked in a continuous spiral.  The instructions show 6 beads per row.  I did 5 instead since i was using thicker thread and didn’t want the end result to be too bulky.  To finish, I added metal rounded bead caps  and a toggle clasp.

Happy Easter

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.  There is nothing more worthy of celebration than Christ’s magnificent victory over death!  What a glorious day.
