Crochet Headband Cuteness

My mom is in a crochet thread phase, and she inspired me to make this headband from one of her pattern books. I am in love with it. I was going to put it in my artfire store, but we have officially bonded. This is a great project for scrap yarn, and it is quick.

Here is the pattern book…

When I love something this much, I obsess and pop out tons of them. Keep an eye out for spring colors soon!!

Knit Bubbly Scarf With Basic Mittens +++ Patterns

knit scarf and mittens pattern

I am officially feeling arthritic. Knitting needles are my new appendages. Here is the latest: My mom wanted a cream scarf to go with a new coat. I found the over at Bernat, and the mitten pattern at ravelry.com. I used Yarn Bee “Melody Bulky Wool Blend” in Alabaster which I bought at Hobby Lobby. It is 70% wool and 30% acrylic, making it machine washable and dryable, with the warmth of wool. I washed these on warm and tumbled dry on low heat. They did not felt any noticeable degree, and emerged from the dryer all cuddly soft. I finished both patterns over a 3 day span (knitting a little obsessively), so if you need a quick, beautiful and classic project, give it a shot. Both patterns great for beginners! Spend time with yarn daily…

Knit Cat Ear Hat With Pattern

This project was inspired by my niece, who has always adored cats. I knew she would rock this look and I was right! Read on for pattern.

I knitted on long circular needles (size 10) for the hat part, and used “full o’ sheep” yarn in black.
For the ears, I used Size 7 needles.
Please read pattern before starting. I felted the final project lightly in the washer on hot because I like the look of the felted stitches. If you plan to skip this part, or use non felting yarn, take that into consideration when sizing, as the hat will be bigger than the one pictured and you may want to change needle size.

Lime Green Ribbed Knit Wrist Warmers

Here is what I have been working on… I can’t stop knitting! This is the first time I have ever knitted two items at once on the same circular needle. I feel like a real knitter now. These are a simple k2 p2 ribbed pattern knit with peruvian wool and lightly machine felted. I will from this point on, work both pieces in paired knits simultaneously. It just works for me. I know they will be the same size, and I love that when I finish, both are done!!

Lightly Felted Men’s Fingerless Gloves With Pattern

It is crunch time folks, and I am knitting myself right into an arthritis diagnosis. I do this every Christmas. Handmade mania with an emphasis on wooly treasures to temper the winter freezes. My nephew wanted fingerless mitts and here is what I came up with (after making 3 oddly shaped gloves I would rather forget). I used Stitch Nation yarn by Debbie Stoller called “Full o’ Sheep”, 100% peruvian wool.

Here is the pattern I used, which I found at Piece By Piece. I used size 5 circular needles and the magic loop method. This pattern called for size 6 needles, but i knit BIG, so I dropped down a size. I also decided to machine wash felt the finished mitts for 10 minutes. It makes a fuzzier, tighter, neater knit, smaller mitt. Taylor will love. I am considering some button embellishments or maybe some embroidery. Off to knit more…

Hand Knit Fingerless Gloves’ – Malabrigo Wool

I knitted these from a pattern I found in the awesome book “Knit One, Embellish Too” (click here to learn more). My niece Ashlyn loves purple. This was her Christmas gift.

First time I had used Malabrigo wool (here). I love it. Can’t wait to do more with it.
But it’s gonna be a minute. I have ventured into the land of sewing. Never thought it would happen, and like everything I do, I am addicted. Stay tune for quilt pics. I am loving this sewing machine. My creative brain is in full force. A whole new world…

Felted Knit Mushrooms…

My friend Megan is a mushroom farmer, so I always keep an eye out for mushroom crafts to whip up for her.

These are the felt mushrooms I made from a free pattern I found at kathrynivy.com.
They were fun to make, and fulfilled my need for instant gratifications, as they did not take long.
Also, they prompted me to explore needle felting (for the spots), a skill for which I now have many crafty plans.
Thanks Megan!

Cutest Felted Snowmen from Knit Picks

FeltedSnowmenPictured is my version of the Knit Pick snowmen pattern, available for free download! I used Moda Dea bamboo wool in cream, and it felted fine in the washer on hot (2 cycles, with detergent). I abandoned the pattern in terms of accessories, mainly because I find crochet to be faster than knitting, and I was in a hurry. I just crocheted the earmuffs, hat and scarf.

I am in love with these little guys. This pair is going to my grandparents for Christmas. The shorter one will have a scarf, or a nice winter poncho of sorts. I will post when finished! Just wanted to get something posted today, and there is still time to whip up a couple of these for last minute gifts. I am happy to write out a pattern for the hats and earmuffs, but since I have 2 followers including myself, and Unholy Nancy doesn’t crochet, you will have to message me and request it!
Many holiday blessings!
